I recently went on a trip to Alberta and our last stop was to visit my cousin’s grandma. My family had grew up with her, and I have known her since I was born. She is right now I think 87 years old. At first I thought she would not recognize me, but much to my surprise she did. She said “Oh Marrife! You grew up so fast!” After hearing these words I wanted to cry, not because of sadness but because I have not seen her in 7 years and here she is remembering my face, my name! It made me so happy! My whole family was so happy that she could remember us. I think 3 years ago she was really weak, but she has gotten better after, she is much stronger than before. We had a nice hour and a half together. That day we were driving back to Winnipeg, a drive that would take us about 20 hours. It was hard saying goodbye. She was so happy that she saw us again after 7 long years and now we had to go. She came with us to the elevator to say our last goodbyes and I could feel the tears coming out but I did not want to cry in front of her. We hugged and she kissed me, I can still feel the warmth of her kiss on my cheek. It was so difficult to say goodbye but I’m glad that I saw her again. She had taken care of my siblings and I ever since we were kids. I can still remember her smiling face when we came to visit and her smiling face when those elevator doors closed. When they did close I started crying just because seeing her happy like that made me happy and I didn’t want to leave. I looked over to my own grandma, sister, and my dad, they all were crying too. Every time I think of this I start crying just because I miss her and she became so strong after. I’m back in Winnipeg with only this sweet memory of her. I really hope I see her again soon. I wish that she will just become stronger so that the next time I go Edmonton I can see her again. For now, I am left with this memory, the memory of her smiling face, happy conversations, and loving hugs and kisses. I want that memory of that smiling face before those elevator doors closed to be in my mind forever. Thank you Lola Nelia for that wonderful meeting before leaving Edmonton. I was so happy that we had the chance to see you again. <3

Joseph Kony is the worst living criminal. He abducts children and hands them guns to kill other people, even their parents. He uses the girls as sex slaves. The children he abducted are called the Lord’s Resistance Army, also known as, The LRA. He has abducted over 30,000 children and uses them as kid soldiers in Central Africa. You know that feeling when there’s a whole bunch of people around you but yet you still feel alone? Yeah I’m feeling that right now.. It’s not even that too I know I shouldn’t feel this way but seeing all these happy couples around me makes me miss being in a relationship.. I know I have to work on myself and become a better person, I know that I have to be patient and wait, but how long do I have to wait? When will that special person for me come?
